Prince George Steals the Show at His First Official Playdate (PHOTOS)

Prince GeorgeThe Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are doing a royal tour of Australia and New Zealand, but can we get real about what counts here? I mean, aside from Kate Middleton's impeccable taste in clothing. That's just a given at this point, right?

What we really want is more adorable photos of Prince George! And the little royal had the perfect photo op at his first official playdate on Wednesday, April 9 in Wellington, New Zealand. The parent support group Plunket arranged the meeting between Wills, Kate, and George, and ten other families who have babies around the same age as the third in line to the throne.

It was Prince George's first official overseas engagement, but the tyke looked way more interested in showing off his standing skills and ability to grab toys and slobber on them. Ahh, isn't it a relief to know that royal babies are just like our babies? I knew I called my daughters princesses for a reason!

Prince GeorgeAnyway, these photos are adorable and amazing, especially considering that this is likely the first time the family of three has been in such a setting with other families, yet they all seemed totally at ease.

Kate wore a fabulously chic patterned Tory Burch dress and black heels, and George wore navy "sailboat-smocked" dungaree shorts from Rachel Riley. Sources say that the little guy "looked really happy and was kicking his legs."

Another onlooker said he was really into the toys, and grabbed a purple tamborine before anything else. Prince William was overheard to be offering a familiar paternal sentiment when he exclaimed, "It's madness ... there are babies everywhere!"

Welcome to playdates, Wills. Glad to have you along!

Would you RSVP yes to a playdate with the royal family?
