Miley Cyrus’ Shocking Remarks About Her Breakup Show She’s Better Off Single

There's no doubt that Miley Cyrus has been crashing hard over the death of her beloved pooch, Floyd. She even sang to a 60-foot Floyd replica recently. When it comes to her human losses, however, Miley is a bit more sanguine. She opens about her ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth, in the latest issue of Elle.

Miley told Elle that there once was a time when she would lay in bed, full of anxiety, wondering what she would do without Liam -- or even the Disney machine that catapulted her to stardom. She says:

When I went through a really intense breakup -- you know, I was engaged -- and when I was with him or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn’t there to carry me anymore or if I didn’t have him. And now I’m free of both of those things, and I’m fine.

Well, some people wouldn't necessarily clarify being obsessed with sticking your tongue out and grinding and twerking on anything that moves as being "fine." But Miley seems to be in control of what she wants to do. Certainly, if she looks back and regrets some of this time, she at least won't regret that she didn't take any risk or do anything she wanted to do because she had a boyfriend and Disney and had to keep up appearances.

Say what you will about Miley, few child stars go on to become successful international pop stars. Doubtful the very edgy image she now embraces could have been done while being Liam's wife.

Not only that, NO girl should lie awake at night worried about what will happen if she doesn't have a boyfriend, like Miley says she was. She admits:

That’s so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would have died if they didn’t have a boyfriend.

Despite the fact that Miley should have said "she" not "they," I have to agree with the sentiment. Your happiness cannot be reliant on having a partner. A partner is something that enhances your happiness, not defines it. Good for Miley for learning this lesson so early.

Do you think that Miley is better off without Liam?
