'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' Recap: Kim Opens Up About Her Divorce For 1 Reason Only

Khloe KardashianIt was dour o'clock for the Kardashians this week on the show. Minus Scott Disick trying to appropriate Native American culture, there weren't really any laughs, as it were. Instead, we got the moment we (grief vultures that we are) have long been waiting for. Khloe Kardashian decided to officially file from divorce from her husband, Lamar Odom. It was pretty gut-wrenching. I mean, they basically ended the show with a black-and-white montage dedicated to Lamar that wasn't in any way different from the one they did for Scott's mom last week. You know, the woman who actually died. Awkward.

We all know that the show, and the family who are its stars, are the masters of micromanagement. So how Khloe REALLY reached her decision to legally and physically leave Lamar isn't something we'll ever really know. And, you know, we shouldn't. Because as much as over-exposure is their business, I encourage this impulse to maintain their own, separate-from-T.V. private lives.

It wasn't an easy decision for Khloe to make. I mean, obviously. Clearly she and Lamar had been through so many highs and lows. Even in their darkest hours, Khloe respected the hell out of his privacy, keeping the details of their schism way close to her vest. For the sake of story-structure, there was one moment that apparently sealed the deal where Khloe's decision to end things was concerned. Lamar released an offensive rap about Khloe that hurt her so deeply she felt she was left with no other option than leaving him.

But even knowing that, it took a veritable intervention from her sisters and her good friend Malika to really make her come to the Jesus of divorce litigation. Surprisingly, it was Kim who really seemed able to best reach Khloe. There's an obvious joke about her having enough experience with divorce to know what she's talking about to be made, but I refuse. Instead let's talk about what a good big sis she was. She really seemed to be speaking from the heart, and only wanted Khloe's happiness. She talked about the guilt that comes with divorce and promised Khloe it would pass. Sometimes Kim seems to check out emotionally where her family is concerned. It was great to see her so keyed in to Khloe when her sister really needed her.

Did you think this episode handled Khloe's divorce well?
