'Mad Men' Premiere Date & Other Season 7 Clues Revealed

joan mad menAs evidenced by the Golden Globes last night, there are plenty of watchable, even critically-acclaimed shows on TV these days, but that doesn't mean we aren't still counting down the days 'til the Mad Men season 7 premiere! And now, we FINALLY have a definitive premiere date!

Don Draper & Co. (except, well, last we saw him, he was being kicked outta the co.!) will return to AMC on Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m. EST. Hooray! And as you might remember, the season's 14 episodes will be split between this year and next. In the meantime, some clues about what we might be able to expect in the upcoming eps ...

  1. Christina Hendricks told The Toronto Star of the final season: "It's crazy, it's mad, it's just what you'd expect it to be. Every time a new script arrives we just fall on it and tear it apart looking for clues as to where our characters are going to wind up."
  2. She also recently discussed Don's changing persona and made it seem like this pentultimate mini-season may show him falling apart even more: “He made a habit of behaving badly from day one. Everyone thought he was so attractive and sexy and wanted to be like him. But now that his life seems to be falling apart, I don’t think he’s a person that anyone wants to emulate.”
  3. And don't expect Joan -- or possibly even Peggy -- to end up running the show by the end of the show. "At the end of the day, don't forget that it's still called Mad Men," Hendricks noted.
  4. Per usual, Matt Weiner won't say what year the show will pick up in, telling Vulture.com in June, "I don’t know if we're going to come back [in 1969]." But based on the pattern of seasons past, I highly doubt it won't take place in the year of Woodstock and the first man on the moon.
  5. Whether it's 1969 or not, E! Online claims the next installment will feature "more hippies than Don can handle."
  6. Don will go commando at some point. E! Online spotted Jon Hamm walking around the set of Mad Men, and he apparently "opted to skip his underwear for this particular wardrobe choice and scene."
  7. Ted and Pete may have gone to California, but that doesn't mean they won't return. "No matter whether they're in California or not, these characters are part of our story," Weiner promised.
  8. But it remains to be seen if James Wolk will reprise his role as Ben Benson, especially since he's been starring on the new sitcom The Crazy Ones. In July he said, "If they want me (back on Mad Men), we can certainly try to make something happen. It's in their hands, but I loved working on Mad Men and I'd love to be back there. That was a joy -- working on that show was incredible." We enjoyed him, too!

What are your predictions for season 7?
