Famous Director's Onstage Meltdown Is a Public Speaking Nightmare Come True

A-lister Michael Bay just proved that no matter how high up the show biz ladder you climb, there’s still ample room for stage fright. At the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas on Monday, the Transformers director completely flubbed up reading the teleprompter, and then totally failed when he tried to “wing it.”

Bay was invited onstage to be part of a live Q&A session with a Samsung executive to presumably talk about how the latest greatest TV set will offer an even better viewing experience for watching his movies. But then he just got totally flustered, tried to recover, got more flustered, and then he sort of gave up and walked offstage.

Take a look and try not to cringe too badly with embarrassment for the poor guy:

After the incident, Bay owned up to his awkwardness by posting:

Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES -- I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down -- then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing.

Public speaking: It’s harder than it looks.

Have you ever embarrassed yourself in public?
