Justin Bieber's Grandpa Finds Out What Happens When You Dare Diss the Star

Justin BieberThere's one person in Justin Bieber's family who's willing to take him over his knee and spank him and that's his paternal grandfather, George Bieber. George reportedly claims that his grandson has gotten "too big for his britches" (isn't that just something a granddad would say?) and complains that his side of the family is being ignored -- while Justin lavishes attention and goodies on the maternal grandfolks. George harumphs that he and his wife, Kathy, weren't invited to Justin's Believe movie premiere (like his maternal grandparents were), telling RadarOnline he would have liked to have gone to the premiere, but his invite was apparently lost in the mail. Or, you know, never sent.

Could have something to do with THIS. George told the New York Daily News in April:

It’s like we now live on different planets. He never calls us, and now I sometimes think he doesn’t care. It does make me sad, as right now our lives are pretty desperate. I can’t work due to illness, so there is barely any money coming into the house. His grandma has a bad back, too, but works like a dog hauling huge bags of paint powder 40 hours a week. He was such a big part of our life, and now nothing. It’s like he is a stranger and now we barely know him. Thank goodness we have 10 other grandchildren is all I can say.

And about George's rivals, Justin's maternal grandparents, he gripes:

For them, nothing seems to be too much trouble, and he buys them new houses, cars, luxury holidays, anything they want. But for us, nothing. He will always be my grandson and I am, and will always be, so proud of him. It’s just sad he is not a bigger part of our life.

Hmm. Guess that didn't happen.

Hard to say what happened here. While Justin grew up with his mom, not his dad, he's maintained a relationship with his father, Jeremy. And his father and mother, Pattie, are apparently still close.

But the fact that George seems to talk more about Justin's money and the things he buys his maternal grandparents rather than spending time with him is telling. It's a bad idea to count on your grandkids to see you through your retirement years.

Maybe if George stops kvetching, Justin will come around more often. Or at least send them a little something.

Is it wrong for Justin to ignore his grandparents?
