Amanda Bynes' Mom Breaks Silence on Her Daughter, Making Everyone Feel Like a Jerkface

amanda bynesAmanda Bynes' mother has finally broken her silence on her daughter. In an exclusive statement to People, Lynn Bynes, who was recently granted legal control of Amanda, said: "I would really like everyone out there to know that almost 99 percent of the things written about my daughter in various media outlets are false or misleading ... Both my husband and I love Amanda very much and we know that she will get through this situation."

While it's kinda hard to believe that 99 percent of the things written about Amanda are untrue, I'm sure there have been plenty of fabrications and exaggerations reported. It's heartbreaking to think that Amanda's parents were among the millions of people reading these god-awful things about their daughter. They must be so relieved to know she's in a safe place and getting the treatment she so desperately needed. And also, kinda makes the rest of us feel like jerkfaces.

The truth is, people can't avert their eyes from a good old fashioned celebrity meltdown. Whether it's part of your job to write about them ([sheepishly] hi), or you just love commenting on them to your friends or on weblogs, admit it. We've all dabbled in the spectator sport of celeb meltdowns.

It's easy to forget that these people are someone's kids. Typically, it seems like public meltdowns occur between the ages of Justin Bieber and Charlie Sheen, and, typically their parents are still around to witness it. It's easy (and, yes, a little fun) to make fun of these people, but ... imagine that was your kid? (Also, it's worth noting that, in the case of Miley Cyrus, it's a little different, because her parents seem to be perfectly happy with their daughter's behavior right now, and see nothing wrong with it.)

Glad to know that Amanda is in therapy right now, and close to her family, because, from the looks of things, her situation appeared to be getting worse by the second. Now let's just hope her parents don't let her out of their eyesight any time soon. Clearly, Amanda needs serious supervision.

What do you think of this?
