Jennifer Aniston Says She ‘Needed Therapy’ During Her Years With Brad Pitt

jennifer anistonNo one likes to be reminded of the mistakes they've made, especially when that mistake is an ex. But alas, sometimes we just can't escape the shadow of a disastrous relationship. Just ask Jennifer Aniston. That's a plague she knows all too well. Eight years after she filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, she is clearly still reeling from the hell she went through.

During an interview in the new issue of Glamour, the star talked about how difficult her 30s were -- which happens to be the time when she was breaking up with her husband. Asked what advice she'd give herself at that time, she replied:

Thirties. Go to therapy. Clean up all of the s--t. Clean up all of the toxins and the noise. Understand who you are. Educate yourself on the self ... You can undo a lot of things. If you're not happy, you can become happy. Happiness is a choice. That's the thing I really feel. Like with friends who refuse to get happy, who refuse to rise above the discomfort of where they're at.

Telling, isn't it. It was clearly a painful period of her life and one that she had to live out in front of the entire world. The fact that she would tell her 30-year-old self to "go to therapy" is just further proof how bad relationships really mess with our heads.

Like many women, Jennifer thought she had found The One. Everything was perfect and hot and heavy for a while, then boom. Things start going downhill fast. And no matter how hard you try, you just can’t fix it. What’s worse, you can’t get happy because of that relationship failure. It’s only in hindsight do we often figure out what would have really helped at the time. In Jen’s case -- talking to someone. That probably would have saved her from years of heartache, blame, and pain.

What do you think of Jen's admission? Can you relate?
