Amanda Bynes Hospitalized for Mental Evaluation After Setting a Driveway Fire

amanda bynesAfter months of what can only be described as bizarre and incredibly disturbing behavior, Amanda Bynes may finally be getting the help that she so desperately needs. According to TMZ, the one-time child star is currently hospitalized on a 5150 hold. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, it's an involuntary hospitalization for mental evaluation. The reason behind the drastic action? More troubling and shocking behavior, of course. Though, this time, her alleged antics seemed a bit more dangerous than usual.

Bynes was caught trespassing at a home in Thousand Oaks, California, around 9 p.m. on Monday night. The fire department was called after someone saw a small fire in the driveway. When police arrived, they reportedly saw Bynes standing near the blaze.

They questioned her about what she was doing there and why. Apparently, the answers she gave didn't sit well with police because they then decided she needed to be hospitalized. She can only be held for 72 hours, but perhaps this is the first step in getting her on the road to wellness. You may remember that Britney Spears was also held on a 5150 in 2008 when she suffered a breakdown. It led to her father taking conservatorship over her finances. Ultimately, it proved to be a good move for the ailing pop star. Hopefully it will lead to the same for Bynes.

Family, friends, and fans have all been concerned about her for quite some time. Among her most disturbing behavior: calling various celebs ugly on Twitter (including Miley Cyrus, Lance Bass, and Chrissy Teigen), roaming around New York City in ratty looking wigs, hitting the gym in lingerie, and posting strange Twitpics. All of this has left everyone wondering what happened to this once popular and bright star.

Do you think this will help Amanda Bynes?
