Ben Affleck Cast in 'Gone Girl' Movie as the Perfect Nick Dunne ... Now Who Will Play Amy?

Ben affleck gone girlBack in the summer of 2012, it seemed like anyone and everyone was reading Gone Girl, a thriller of a novel by Gillian Flynn. Of course, its popularity could only mean one thing: Time to turn it into a movie! Duh.

It's got everything: love, hate, murder, kidnapping, blackmail, mystery, intrigue, and two of the most twisted, unreliable narrators you'll ever encounter. For some background, Nick is a journalist who loses his job, so he and his wife Amy move back to Missouri, where Nick is from, and he uses his wife's trust fund to open a bar. Then, suddenly, Amy disappears, and Nick is the prime suspect ...

Throughout the novel, you never really know exactly who's guilty and who's telling the truth, making it an insanely addicting read. The latest news involves a big A-list actor who reportedly has been cast in the coveted role of Nick. It's none other than ... Ben Affleck!

Ben's redeemed himself immensely since his Gigli days, becoming an award-winning lead actor, director, and amazing, doting father and husband (he and Jennifer Garner are adorable). David Fincher is set to direct and is supposedly in talks with Affleck to have him take on the lead role.

But Ben is involved in the pre-production of directing his next movie, Live by Night. Figuring out the schedules and getting both movies into production as quickly as possible to make as much money as possible is the major problem, a problem which only really famous, powerful Hollywood people seem to have.

Gone Girl will also be produced by Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea via their Pacific Standard banner. Nothing has been reported about Reese taking on the role of Amy, but hey, it could happen.

The Wrap is reporting that it doesn't look like it'll go quite that way, with Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, and Emily Blunt looking to play Amazing Amy. My vote for sure is on Natalie. Can't really picture Reese in that role, and Natalie has proven she can be dark, dangerous, sexy, and twisted all at the same time, which is exactly what is needed to play Amy.

So far, I'm liking Ben as Nick -- I think he can bring out a vulnerability and depth and the many flaws that plague Nick throughout the novel. Not to mention he's kind of perfect-looking for the part as well. I for one can't wait to hear more about the casting news and check out this movie when it hits theaters, whenever that may be!

Have you read Gone Girl? Would you go see the movie?
