Mel Gibson was slammed in the press after a recording of his four-letter-word and threat-filled tirade against his daughter's mother, Oksana, became public. She also accused him of hitting her and spitting on her in front of their child and of waving a gun at her.

NFL star Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson and Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada were married for a mere month when Chad headbutted her during an argument. She filed for divorce three days later. Pictures of her horrific injury have recently hit the press.

Back in 1998, rock star Tommy Lee was sentenced to six months in jail for beating his wife and mother of his two children and co-star of his sex tape, Pamela Anderson. Pam was apparently holding their infant son at the time the abuse occurred.

Just four months after they were married, Josh was arrested at their home and charged with spousal abuse. Diane claimed that Josh hit her. She did not, however, want to press charges and their spokesperson called it a "misunderstanding." They divorced this year.

Saturday Night Live star Phil Hartman and his wife Brynn had a volatile relationship -- friends said that Brynn was the abusive one -- that cultimated when Brynn shot Phil while he slept after an argument in which he threatened divorce. She then killed herself.

In probably the most famous abusive relationship of all time, O.J. Simpson was tried for stabbing his wife, Nicole Brown, and her pal, Ronald Goldman, to death outside of her home. He was later acquitted of the murders. He is now in jail on unrelated charges.
