Marilyn Manson 'Slashes' Wrist in Mind-Boggling Tribute to Paris Jackson

Marilyn MansonI'm thinking you don't surf quite as many entertainment stories as I do on a daily basis (you and your "lives" and your "real jobs" and whatnot), so here's a quick recap of the oddball connection between musician Marilyn Manson and Paris Jackson: apparently one of the reasons Jackson became so despondent right before she attempted suicide by cutting her arm and taking a large amount of ibuprofen is that she was forbidden from attending one of Manson's concerts. After her hospitalization, Manson told TMZ that he hoped Jackson felt better soon, and that she would be on his VIP guest list anytime she wanted.

Sweet enough gesture, right? Well, he took things a step further last Thursday when he dedicated the first song of his Los Angeles concert to Jackson. Here are two INSANELY weird things about that: 1) the song is called "Disposable Teens," and 2) during the performance, he simulated slashing his own arm with a fake knife.

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

Jackson's suicide attempt happened early Wednesday morning, when she contacted a suicide hotline and the person on the other end was concerned enough to call 911. The 15-year-old was taken by ambulance from the family's home around 2 a.m. to a nearby hospital, where she received medical treatment and was placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold for 72 hours.

By most accounts, during the incident, Jackson cut her arm with a meat cleaver -- which is why it's so bizarre that Manson dedicated a song to her, then proceeded to pretend to hack up his own arm with a prop knife. I mean, what the hell kind of message is that? Is it something he normally does during his stage act for that song and it just so happened to coincide with the actions of the girl he gave a shout-out to beforehand? Is he saying he identifies with what she was going through? Is he telling her to to cheer up, in his own special Marilyn Manson way, with the lyrics of "Disposable Teens"?

I wanna thank you mom
I wanna thank you dad
For bringing this fuckin world to a bitter end
I never really hated a one true god
But the god of the people I hated

The more that you fear us
The bigger we get
The more that you fear us
The bigger we get
And don't be surprised, don't be surprised
Don't be surprised when we destroy all of it

Uh, okay. Buck up, Paris! Things may seem dark now but eventually the entire world will be destroyed by pissed-off teenagers.

Or maybe Manson's just a 44-year-old shock-rock asshole who hasn't been called out for being controversial in a while and figured this would be a fine time to nab some headlines by graphically depicting the same act of self harm that a celebrity teen was driven to last week during a moment of horrific emotional distress. If that was his intent, what else is there to say but well played, sir. Well played.

What do you think of Marilyn Manson's "tribute" to Paris Jackson?
