Sean Parker's 'Game of Thrones' Wedding Was Even More Magical Than We Thought It Would Be

sean parker alexandraDid you hear the most hyped wedding of the summer happened over the weekend? No, not Jennifer Aniston's, Angelina Jolie's, or even mine (ha ha, juuuust kidding), but Facebook co-founder Sean Parker's to Alexandra Lenas. And the celebration that was rumored to have cost $9 million total, to have been designed to look like an episode of Game of Thrones, or be Lord of the Rings or medieval-themed, wasn't overly geeky, cheesy, or gauche (as we worried it could have been, considering the price tag).

Instead, the wedding could only be described as "elegant, tasteful, and magical" -- at least in the estimation of guest John Perry Barlow, who tweeted his thoughts after the highly-anticipated event.

The nuptials and reception occurred at the Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, and The Daily Mail reports that it did in fact feature opulent decorations including a constructed ruin and a waterfall, as rumored. Apparently, guests "entered down a long trail and came to a big gate and entered this other world in a forest there ... They made the forest come alive." Very cool!

Guests reportedly included Sting and his wife Trudie, Allison Williams, Emma Watson, Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Perry and Etty Farrell, and Lucian Grainge, as well as Jacqueline Laurita from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, California Attorney General Kamela Harris, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Newark Mayor Cory Booker.

Lenas wore a Daenerys Targaryen-esque gown designed by Elie Saab, while the couple's daughter, Winter Victoria, and the guests wore outfits designed by Oscar-winning costume designer Ngila Dickson.

These details make it sound like despite spending an INSANE amount of money, the wedding really wasn't the spectacle, out-of-control circus we were thinking it could have been. It actually sounds like the Parkers created an incredible, whimsical event that made for memories of a lifetime for not just themselves but their 300-something guests as well. Nice. Now, let's hope they make a few bucks back by selling eye candy pics of the Big Day to one of the celeb weeklies!
