Kelly Rowland Cries Performing New Song About Beyonce & Abusive Exes (VIDEO)

Kelly RowlandFormer Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland broke down in tears while singing her new song "Dirty Laundry" at a concert in D.C. last Sunday, and the reaction of the crowd was totally awesome and moving.

Have you heard the song yet? It's incredible and incredibly personal. I'm not at all surprised Kelly broke down crying while singing this song live.

It must have been so cathartic to just write that song, let alone release it, and know that thousands (millions?) of people are hearing it and understanding what you've gone through. That in itself must be an amazing, moving experience, but then for Kelly to be singing it and have the whole crowd singing along ... to know that your words are heard, and that people understand you, feel your pain themselves, that you've touched them in some way ... WOW.

And what a story it is, too. Can you IMAGINE being Beyonce's former and less successful bandmate? To be friends with of Queen B of the Universe? No matter how much you loved your "sister," it would be hard to see her reach that kind of fame while your own career languishes.

While my sister was on stage, killing it like a motherf--ker / I was enraged, feeling it like a motherf--ker / Bird in a cage, you would never know what I was dealing with / Went our separate ways, but I was happy she was killing it / Bittersweet, she was up, I was down

And on top of all that, the brutal domestic violence Kelly talks about in the song, isolating her from the rest of the world, from the very people whose support she needed.

I was battered / He hittin the window like it was me, until it shattered / He pulled me out, he said, “Don’t nobody love you but me / Not your mama, not your daddy and especially not Bey” / He turned me against my sister / I missed ya

Damn. It's totally inspiring to see Kelly come into her own like this, to find a way through her pain and heartache into the light, into her own strength and power as a performer. That's what a real artist is all about -- taking the rest of us on that incredible journey.

Here's the video a fan took of her performance -- it's so powerful, especially when she breaks down and the crowd is just supporting her so hard!

Are you a Kelly Rowland fan? (Are you now?!)
