‘Game of Thrones’ Needs Nude Scenes as Much as It Needs Beheadings & Dragons

Game of ThronesIf anyone out there is a fan of Game of Thrones (and I know there are plenty of you), you're well aware that the show is just as famous for its intriguing storylines, complex characters, and plot twists as it is for its ... um, violence and nudity.

There can be so much, in fact, that this show should never be watched with one's parents. Ah, the joy of HBO shows. Still, it was kind of shocking, after what we've seen the last three seasons, to hear that one of the stars has refused to do any more nude scenes in Game of Thrones.

Sadly for us, we don't know which star it is! But we've got a few guesses. And though we can't help but respect an actress who knows her boundaries -- this is kind of hard to say, but without all the violence and sex, the show just wouldn't be the same.

Anyway, this life-altering, super-important news about NO MORE NUDE SCENES comes from Oona Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, who plays Talisa Maegyr. She said to The Telegraph: "One of the girls in the show who got her kit off the most in the first couple of seasons now doesn’t at all because she said, 'I want to be known for my acting not for my breasts.'"

The first name that came to mind? Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen. We got plenty of nude/sex scenes during the first and second season -- though the third season has been pretty tame (minus a full-on boob shot in "Second Sons") (sorry, was that really perverted-sounding?).

Needless to say, Emilia has a fantastic body, but she has done enough the past three seasons to be known for more than just her breasts. Still, we can't help but support and love her, and if it is Emilia who will refuse to do these scenes, fans will keep on watching the show, I guarantee.

But at least we know it isn't Chaplin, who's had plenty of steamy moments in seasons 2 and 3. "I’m quite controversial when it comes to that because I adore women’s bodies," she said. "If it’s done in a beautiful way, in a way that honours the female form, then I’m always happy to see it."

Ah, always the conundrum when fans discuss Game of Thrones. Some think the nudity is gratuitous, unnecessary, and extreme, while others think it's part of the series and actually does add shock factor, even beauty, to certain storylines. In my opinion, I think the series does both. The threesome torture scene with Theon? Kiiiiind of unnecessary. But Daenerys walking out of that fire with three dragons completely nude? It added to the power and rawness of that incredible scene. The show's producers do cross some boundaries, but it's not nearly offensive enough for me stop tuning in week after week. And we've even had our fair share of nude men this season, too.

And in case you have no idea what we're all talking about, here is a link to an ENTIRELY NOT SAFE FOR WORK video of all the sex scenes and nudity in the first two seasons. You're welcome(?).

Do you think there's too much nudity in Game of Thrones? Who do you think is the one who's refusing to do any more sex scenes?
