Vicki Gunvalson's Relationship With Brooks Ayers Isn't Worth Losing Her Friends & Family

Vicki Gunvalson and Brooks AyersI think it's safe to say that Vicki Gunvalson and on-again off-again boyfriend Brooks Ayers are one of the least liked couples of the Real Housewives empire. After Vicki got divorced, we watched Brooks, this man with a strong Southern accent and bad teeth, swoon the mom. Almost immediately after they started dating, we watched as friend after friend approached Vicki telling her they weren't exactly fans of her new beau. Heck, Vicki's daughter Briana won't live in the same house as her mother if she's with him. That in itself speaks volumes.

There's no confirmation on whether or not Vicki and Brooks are together right now, but Gunvalson took it upon herself to air out her frustrations to Celebuzz. "If everybody else would just leave us alone, I think we'd be better," she said. "At the end of the day, it's my life and my choice, so I don't know what the future holds."

You have a point, Vicki. But usually when your friends tell you you're better off without him, they're right.

When it comes to your heart, it's hard to always be level-headed. You get into a relationship with someone and develop these strong feelings, and when you're in the thick of it, it's easy to be blind to the downfalls. When someone doesn't treat you the way you deserve to be treated, it's easy to look at the GOOD qualities they have and try and nudge off the bad because of those feelings you have for them. I know, I've definitely been there.

It's a nightmare to want to be with someone who your friends aren't fond of. You have two sides pulling at you: the logic from your friends who are removed from the situation and can see what it's doing to you, and then you have what your heart wants. For Vicki, she obviously sees something that she loves in Brooks. She obviously sees some redeeming qualities in him that she doesn't want to let go of.

As hard as it is to walk away, sometimes you won't know if you're better off without that questionable partner until you try being on your own. It's clear her relationship with Brooks is seriously affecting other parts of her life in a negative way. With all things considered, I think she's better off without him -- especially if that means things will be better for her family and her friendships.

Do you think Vicki's friends and daughter are right about Brooks? Do you think she should stay far away?
