Khloe Kardashian Doesn't Need Her Mom to Save Her Marriage to Lamar Odom

khloe kardashianI'm usually apt to believe any rumor about Kris Jenner -- especially rumors about Kris Jenner messing with her kids' lives -- because the Kardashian matriarch really does come off as a meddling, control freaky, manipulative nightmare. But the latest is so twisted and silly, I can't help but giggle.

The latest turn of events in Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom's supposedly troubled marriage: Kris is "begging" Lamar not to divorce Khloe over her buzzed-about affair with rapper The Game. She's even reportedly gone so far as to remind him of his "numerous past indiscretions" in a finger-wagging way. And sources say she's trying to "damage control" the situation by releasing mushy-gushy, sugar-coated reports about Khloe and Lamar getting cozy over a romantic dinner. Facepalm.

Again, it's not that I wouldn't put any of this past Kris Jenner. But I'm not buying that Khloe cheated. If she did though ... or if Lamar did ... would Kris be all over it? Oh hell yes! Then again, what do we expect her to do? She is a mom.

In the lead-up to marrying my fiance, I've been reminded that no matter how twisted their intentions seem, moms are always out to protect their kids. Yes, even when those kids are grown, 30-something-year-old adults. So, yeah, a mother-in-law is going to do what she thinks is the right thing to "protect" her son from his bride-to-be or wife. And a mother will stand up for her daughter and ask her husband not to divorce her, if she thinks that's what will make her happiest.

On one hand, behavior like this is completely insane -- because two adults, like Khloe and Lamar, should be able to handle their personal (and in their case, also professional) business on their own without a mother's help. But on the other, if it's coming from a loving place, just how bad can it be? Ha. Guess you'd have to get a candid answer from Khloe and her sisters on that one ...

Has your mom or mother-in-law ever stepped in to try to "fix" your relationship?
