Danielle Fishel Strips Down for 'Maxim' & Makes Us Drool Over Topanga All Over Again

Danielle Fishel Topanga MaximFor guys of a certain age, Danielle Fishel will always be the ultimate woman. Topanga from Boy Meets World -- or as some of my husband's friend still refer to her, To-bang-a -- was sponsor of her fair share of sticky socks and extra long showers in the '90s. And now she's baaaaaack ... not to mention more smokin' then ever on a rather confusing cover of Maxim.

Let's be real. Letting Fishel grocery shop in her undies and a trench coat is definitely a great way to get attention for her new sitcom, Girl Meets World, a Cory and Topanga spin-off of everyone's favorite '90s TGIF sitcom. Our husbands and brothers only wished Fishel had looked like this back in the day and worn these clothes ... or should I say NOT worn? The April issue of Maxim is going to sell. Period.

But there's a question that is just dying to be asked: who the heck are they marketing this show to?

Girl Meets World is supposedly going to feature Fishel and Ben Savage as parents to a 13-year-old girl named Riley. The show is supposed to be more about Riley than our old faves -- hence the name.

But the half-nekkid Topanga magazine cover has me a bit confused. Is that supposed to attract the 13-year-old boys? Or their fathers?

As the mother of a daughter who will one day be 13, I hate to be a Debbie Downer here, but I'm realistic: I don't see either demographic giving two hoots about a show centered around a 13-year-old girl. If they did, the Disney Channel would have a much higher percentage of dads watching it.

So what's the point of the Maxim spread?

Just to let us know that Topanga is still bangin'? On behalf of all my fellow '80s kids who grew up watching our guy friends drooling over her ... and wishing we could be her ... I'll admit she is. Heck, she might actually be more gorgeous than she was when we were teenagers.

Or maybe it's just to make us all feel old. As Fishel told Maxim:

We were in people’s family rooms every Friday for seven years. When I watch old episodes, it’s like watching home movies, so I imagine that other people feel the same way. ABC’s TGIF lineup was probably the one time a week when parents and kids all watched TV together.

And now it will be our kids watching Cory and Topanga ... sigh.

Were you a Topanga fan back in the day? What do you think of seeing her all grown up?
