‘Game of Thrones’ Season 3 Has a Sansa Stark Twist No One Will See Coming

Sansa Game of ThronesGame of Thrones season 3 is premiering on March 31, and it's going to be one of the best seasons on television ever. Eeeeeever. At least, it better be, because the first two seasons were so fantastic, and the book upon which the third season is based, A Storm of Swords, is one of the most compelling and addicting and heart-wrenching to date.

Spoilers are just a click away due to the at times unfortunate immediacy of the Internet, but those involved in the show are doing the best they can to tease little hints without giving too much away. For example, Sophie Turner, who plays the beautiful Sansa Stark, said, "I can tell you that Sansa kind of goes through this little roller coaster on Season 3 emotionally, she kind of gets her hopes up a little at times and they kind of get crushed -- as per (usual) pretty much, nothing much different."

So what happens to her? There are spoilers after the jump! Proceed with caution! This is your final warning. Do not be weak. Click away.

Sophie continued, "It's very emotionally testing for Sansa this season."

Ooohhh, no doubt about that one. After watching her grow from a silly, spoiled brat in love with the hated King Joffrey, she now has to put on a brave, polite face and still becomes even more of a mere pawn in this ever-expanding game of thrones. And guess who she is forced to marry during A Storm of Swords after the arrangement with Joffrey falls through?

Tyrion Lannister!

Even though she is only 13 at the time of the marriage, she does try her best to hide how disgusted she feels about how deformed and ... little Tyrion is. Tyrion acknowledges her kindness and even refuses to consummate the marriage, especially after discovering what happened to her family at the Red Wedding.

Sansa does eventually get "rescued" by Petyr Baelish, but of course, since this is Game of Thrones, her difficult journey does not end when she is reunited with her aunt, Lysa Arryn. Needless to say, Sansa's character is in for, just as Sophie said, a "roller coaster" of a season. Can't wait to see all of this play out on TV!

Have you been a fan of Sansa Stark? What do you think about her marrying Tyrion?
