'Game of Thrones' Season 3 Premiere Spoiler Gives Us a Sneak Peek at Episode 1

King Joffrey Game of Thrones
Ewwwww. Joffrey.
Here's some even more Game of Thrones season 3 news for you, though we're more than a month away from the March 31 premiere. Gah. Life is so hard without a weekly dose of GoT. And I'm not exaggerating. Sorry, as you can see, my angst brings out an overuse of italics. But of course more and more will be coming out about season 3 as we get closer, and these little tidbits that barely give anything away still manage to drive us fans totally nuts.

Well played, HBO, well played.

The latest? HBO has released the official episode synopsis for the premiere. And it's frustratingly vague, but it gives enough basics away that I feel obligated to put a SPOILERS AFTER THE JUMP warning here for you. So ... um, spoilers after the jump, proceed with caution, and get ready to get your geek on!

The long-anticipated, sort of, synopsis for the premiere is as follows:

Episode #21: Jon is brought before Mance Rayder, the King Beyond the Wall, while the Night’s Watch survivors retreat south. In King’s Landing, Tyrion asks for his reward, Littlefinger offers Sansa a way out, and Cersei hosts a dinner for the royal family. Arya runs into the Brotherhood Without Banners. Dany sails into Slaver’s Bay. (Written by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss; directed by Daniel Minahan)

If you've read A Storm of Swords, this all probably sounds very familiar to you. So looking forward to that meeting with Jon Snow and Mance Rayder (filmed in Iceland!). And in case you forgot, we left Tyrion with a horrific facial scar after saving the day at the Battle of the Blackwater, one of the most epic battle scenes ever on a television show. Arya and her pals run into the Brotherhood Without Banners, a group of outlaws led by Lord Beric Dondarrion and the red priest Thoros of Myr. Sansa's desperate to go home, and Daenerys begins her journey in an attempt to eventually buy a slave army.

There's obviously a lot to get through and a lot to catch up on, but here's hoping it's a deliciously tantalizing premiere that sets the pace for the rest of the season. All of us who've read A Storm of Swords knows the action that's soon to come!

Can't. Wait. Damn. You. February.

Which character are you most looking forward to seeing in the Game of Thrones season 3 premiere?
