Kim Kardashian's Divorce Could Be Hurting Her Baby

kim kardashianNow that Kim Kardashian is pregnant, I guess we can replace all her divorce drama with pregnancy drama, right? Uh, no. Sources -- including Kris Jenner -- are saying the divorce drama may be leading to pregnancy drama. Okay, rolling your eyes is probably a normal reaction to that, but wait. The latest buzz doesn't sound like something out of an overdramatized reality show script. It actually sounds concerning ...

Sources tell TMZ that several days ago, Kim called her doctor in the middle of the night to come to the house because she was having severe pains. The doctor apparently believed her symptoms were largely stress-related and warned Kim to handle the stress or else there could be "long-term effects." And get this ... just hours before her meeting yesterday with her lawyer, Laura Wasser, Kim's pains returned in full force. Ugh. Clearly, the divorce is taking a serious toll!

Sure, it's easy enough to blow off a rumor like this as made-up, planted, exaggerated for publicity reasons, but I dunno, guys ... Kim has seemed stressed about the divorce for quite some time (in Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, which was filmed over the summer, she's seen occasionally taking calls from Wasser and freaking out). And since divorce proceedings seem to only be getting more drawn-out and hairy, I wouldn't be surprised if she's even more stressed out than she was then.

Kris Jenner corroborated the story up on The View this morning, saying:

Kim has been going through this divorce for months. She has been under a lot of stress because of it, and the doctors told her you’ve had a really tough week, and the stress could become a problem if she isn't careful.

Sounds like something Kim better not be taking lightly. We're always so go-go-go in our everyday lives that we often underestimate the power of stress on our physical health or even during a pregnancy. Sure, pregnant women are encouraged to slow down in certain ways (sitting down on public transportation, avoiding air travel after a certain point in the pregnancy, etc.), but it doesn't seem like we're talking enough about the emotional or mental stressors pregnant women could be facing that could have very real, troubling side effects.

With Kim's stress negatively affecting her pregnancy/health, there's no time to waste. She should get thee to an ashram (as my mom joked I'll have to do when I'm pregnant one day, because I'm especially stress-prone) -- or at least some kind of stress management counseling, meditation, yoga, etc. The sooner, the better off baby Kimye ... and Kim herself will be.

Do you agree we underestimate the power of stress? How did you handle it when you were pregnant?
