Sheryl Crow Sounds Relieved Lance Armstrong Finally Confessed (VIDEO)

Sheryl Crow

Lance Armstrong's doping confession to Oprah captivated the world, but one thing we've all been wondering is how Sheryl Crow felt about it. Sheryl was engaged to Lance during two of his Tour de France wins and she reportedly was named twice in affidavits by the federal organization looking into the allegations. Finally, Sheryl has spoken up.

Sheryl recently gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight in which she was asked about the doping scandal and her reaction to it. I think what Sheryl had to say was dead on. She replied:

I think that honesty is always the best bet, and that the truth will set you free. It's got to be really hard to walk around knowing that you're not telling the truth about something. And so, I always contend that the truth is the best way to go.

So that does beg the question as to whether Sheryl knew of the "truth" earlier, but she has never said publicly. Maybe she will one day. Even if she knew, she probably felt it wasn't her place to speak up. But that would have been a horrible position for her ex to put her in -- or anyone for that matter.

People are wondering about Sheryl as opposed to, say, his ex-wife, who probably knew more, merely because she's famous. What she knows or doesn't know or says or thinks is simply more interesting than what Lance's ex knows. That's human nature. But unfortunately that puts her in the hot seat. Not to mention that the couple ended up splitting. Perhaps living with these lies was too much for her. But she's free. And now so is Lance.

What do you think Sheryl knew? Here's her interview:
