R. Kelly’s ‘Trapped in the Closet’ Is Coming to Broadway & It's No Joke (VIDEO)

R. KellyIf you're like me, you nearly keeled over with laughter at all of R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet" music videos. They were masterpieces. Epic content for a generation of R&B enthusiasts, I say! Well prepare yourself: Tuesday is about to get a whole lot better. "Trapped in the Closet" is most likely coming to Broadway. The star told an audience at New York City's Sunshine Theater on Monday night that he just got an offer "from Broadway" to do a "Broadway version." He then continued on to say that "Trapped" is an alien and he's "glad to be one of the astronauts to take this thing to the unknown."

The selling point: Kelly says he may star in some of the production, but the man's pretty busy writing more chapters. To think, R. Kelly as a Broadway star. Heck, if Mike Tyson can do it, so can he.

I've gotta be honest, when I first saw the buzz for this on Twitter today, I thought it had to be a joke. Kelly is releasing another volume of this opera of sorts on Friday, and well, a rumor like this seemed fitting.

While I think the "Trapped" series is funny and so over-the-top ridiculous, I'm not personally a fan of R. Kelly. I feel like so many people have forgotten that this is the same man who went on trial for potentially having sex with a minor and child pornography. Yeah, he was cleared of the counts, but I don't know, I just feel slightly sketched out.

I do have a whole slew of questions about this, though. If R. Kelly's not starring in the series, who would? What actors would they bring in? Would any big-name actors want to be involved with a project that so many people would be interested in as a joke?

Who knows. The guy's got a crazy imagination and I'm curious to see what, if anything, comes out of this. Feel a little nostalgic with "Trapped in the Closet: Chapter 1" here:

Would you see "Trapped in the Closet" on Broadway? Are you an R. Kelly fan?
