Kirstie Alley Talks John Travolta Gay Rumors & WOW, It's Crazy (VIDEO)

kirstie alley barbara waltersIn an effort to promote her new memoir, Kirstie Alley is making a point to spew bizarro confessions about her "secret love life" left and right. Yesterday, the brouhaha surrounded her revelation that back in 1985, she and the late, great Patrick Swayze -- who were both married at the time, Patrick to his long-time wife and now widow Lisa Niemi -- "fell in love." She clarified they "technically" didn't have an affair, but admitted, "When you fall in love with someone when you're married, you jeopardize your own marriage and their marriage. It's doubly bad." Yeah, greeeeat, Kirstie! And as if that weren't bad enough, NOW, she's talking about her Look Who's Talking co-star John Travolta ...

Not only has she declared him "the greatest love of my life," but Kirstie told Barbara Walters, "I know John with all my heart and soul; he's not gay." Uh, whaaaaaat?

Apparently, she believes the rumors persist because ...

I think in some weird way, in Hollywood, if someone gets big enough and famous enough, and they're not out doing drugs and they're not womanizing, what do you say about them?

She went on to explain just how passionate her feelings for the NOT GAY actor were:

Believe me, it took everything I had inside, outside, whatever, to not run off and marry John and be with John for the rest of my life.

Well, ooookay. Is anyone really buying this? I can't help but think she comes off as really defensive about him ... Maybe Scientologists and the "Church" (or John himself? Agh!) encouraged her to do whatever she can to shut down the persistent rumors about his sexuality. I know, that sounds suuuuper-cynical, but come on! Her "confession" seems to have suspicious timing ... on the tails of his sex scandals and lawsuits?

But even if she isn't doing it in defense of John for some big, fishy Scientology-based reason, something about this -- especially in light of the Patrick Swayze remarks -- still screams phony-baloney plea for attention. Guess when it comes to Kirstie, all we can do is embrace the crazy.

Here's the clip of Kirstie and Barbara ...
