'Taken 2' Reviews Make Liam Neeson Look Like One Stellar Dad (VIDEO)

Liam Neeson in 'Taken 2'Liam Neeson is like, the ultimate father. OK, so maybe I know nothing about his real personal life -- but after seeing Taken back in 2008, I've always secretly hoped I'd get kidnapped and he'd come out of nowhere to save me. Lucky for us, he's baaaaaackkk. Hope you're prepared for another butt-whipping, high-intensity action flick where we can crush ALL over Liam shirtless at some point and hate on Famke Janssen who gets to play his ex-wife: Taken 2 is in theaters nationwide this weekend.

Directed by Olivier Megaton, Taken 2 picks up where its predecessor left off, except this time Neeson and Janssen's characters are the ones getting kidnapped. The question on everyone's mind: is Liam still totally the coolest dad ever? And even better, now that Neeson is 60, does he still got it goin' on? See what the critics have to say in their Taken 2 reviews, here:

Charles Gant for Variety:

Neeson, despite having turned 60 in June, looks spritely enough in the role, and more than capable of another go-round should Taken 2 match its predecessor's success. Whether audiences would believe that Bryan, Lenore or Kim could be kidnapped yet again is another matter.

Lou Lumenick for the New York Post:

Four years ago, there was novelty value in seeing an actor with Neeson’s gravitas turning mad action hero. But Neeson’s done it several times since, with diminishing returns, in other paycheck jobs.

Wesley Morris for the Boston Globe:

The first Taken seemed to connect to men, viscerally ... the divorced dad’s revenge fantasy done up as action-movie brutality ... Now Bryan and Lenore and Kim are almost a family again, so the chip is off his big, broad shoulders. He has nothing to prove anymore. Not to his family, himself, or us.

Dana Stevens for Slate:

At 60 years old, Neeson isn’t doing all his own stunts, but director Megaton could mask that fact a little more subtly -- the alacrity with which he cuts away to a long shot the moment Neeson raises his fists becomes almost comical.

Rafer Guzman for Newsday:

Even Neeson seems tired of it all. You can tell, because near the film's end he sighs, "I am tired of it all."

Hmmm, so in short Taken 2 is pretty much Taken rewritten with the same cast, different villains, and Mr. Neeson is becoming a little old and tired. Either way, I'm not missing out on this one. Check out the Taken 2 trailer below, and decide if you're heading to the movies yourself:
