‘RHOC’ Needs Gretchen Rossi More Than It Does Vicki Gunvalson

gretchen rossiGretchen Rossi was hawking some pink bags at some Gretchen Christine event last night, and while I'm sure she'd argue that the most interesting part of the evening was when they rolled out her new collection of travel purses, or whatever, I'd have to say the best part was when she told WetPaint that she is coming back for the next season of The Real Housewives of Orange County. We heard earlier this week that co-star Vicki Gunvalson might not return next season, so this news from Gretchen becomes, by proxy, even sweeter.

A RHOC without Vicki but with Gretchen? Yes, please.

Vicki's gone off the, excuse my Portuguese, the fucking deep end. I'm sorry, but that lady needs some time away from the cameras and puppet-master Bravo so that she can see that she's kind of like, ruining everything. She divorced Don, she's waking up next to strange men in Mexico, she believes that Brooks Ayers is a good guy, she's alienated her children ... for what. A fur coat? Some gas in the love tank?

As satisfying as it was to see her exposed as crazy hypocrite last season, it was just as hard to watch her self-destruct. It's like when your mom gets drunk at Christmas. It's kiiiiinda funny, but at the same time it makes you wanna hide under the covers.

Gretchen, on the other hand, was awesome last season. She dressed like a 4-year-old pageant contestant, she performed the most cringe-worthy "song" and "dance" on a Vegas stage ever, and she kept Slade around who, for better or for worse, is the most entertaining slimeball west of Joe Biden's house.

But under those never-ending coats of makeup and that six inch layer of self-delusion is actually a pretty bright woman who can be relied on to make sense when no one else is. We need her on the show for that reason alone. So glad she's staying. Oh, and bonus, she's not talking to Alexis anymore! Drama.

Gretchen also said that there's probably a new housewife joining the fray, which, yes. Thank you, Andy Cohen. Love the new blood almost as much as I love the old.

You happy Gretchen's coming back next season?
