Gwen Stefani Admits Her Marriage Isn't a Piece of Cake

gwen stefani cover of marie claireHollywood marriages fall apart right and left, but some celeb couples continue to keep it together. Rockin' lovebirds Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are one duo who -- despite having gone through their fair share of drama -- seem to know the secret to keeping their marriage firing on all cylinders. Who wouldn't want to be clued into what that is?!

Well, Gwen, who is out and about promoting No Doubt's comeback, got surprisingly up close and personal with Marie Claire this month and talked about what she sees as her "biggest accomplishment" so far: Her 10-year marriage to Gavin. Sure, it sounds kinda old-fashioned coming from someone who can boast world-famous, mega-star status, but it's also incredibly romantic and wise.

The 42-year-old explained:

My biggest accomplishment is my marriage so far. Because it's hard, everyone knows it's hard. [Marriage] is something that I always wanted to do successfully. It was a dream of mine. I like the official-ness and the family-ness of it all, having the same name and making decisions together.

I love how she explains it in such a simple, straightforward way. Being the smartypants that she clearly is, she knew a successful marriage wasn't going to be something that she could order up -- like a new design for her LAMB handbag line -- and have at her fingertips. It takes work, and it's hard! I appreciate that she acknowledged that, although I think she's mistaken in saying "everyone knows it's hard." Obviously, some of her Hollywood peers seem to forget that when they jump in and out of marriage so quickly/blindly ...

Sadly, it seems like being married for more than 72 days in Hollywood is worth a round of applause. But even outside of Hollywood, navigating the highs and lows of a decade-long marriage is an awesome accomplishment. And it's not without its rewards.

Besides the "official-ness" and "family-ness" Gwen mentioned, she told Marie Claire:

We’re learning about each other all the time. He balances me out. And he never stops liking me, which is awesome! It makes me feel happy, that someone likes me as much as he does.

Too sweet. Sounds like their relationship is constantly evolving, but the constant thread is that they're desperately in love ... and in like. And their friendship is the foundation of their marriage. No wonder they're willing to put in the work to make it last. Celeb and regular couples could stand to learn a thing or two from these two.

Can you relate to Gwen's case for her marriage being her "biggest accomplishment"?
