Justin Bieber Grows Up & Gets Beat Up in 'As Long As You Love Me' Mini-Movie (VIDEO)

justin bieber as long as you love me screen shotWhat's the first thing that pops to mind when you see the words "As Long As You Love Me" strung together? For anyone who came of age in the late '90s, it's probably the Backstreet Boys tune. But these days, the very same song title has been co-opted by the kid who most recently ripped off the other late '90s mega-boyband *NSYNC -- Justin Bieber.

The good news is that the song doesn't actually sound like a obvious recycle of the Backstreet Boys track or any other tune I can think of. The annoying news is the brand new music video for the single -- premiering today -- borrows tons of its imagery from Michael Jackson's "Bad," but hey, so have plenty of artists (like Lady Gaga in "LoveGame"). So, nothing new there, but the cinematic clip does introduce a new kinda Biebs ... one who gets beaten up by Reservoir Dogs' Michael Madsen!

Madsen plays Bieber's love interest's overprotective father, who tells him, "She needs to be with a man, not a boy. I don't want to know you. You need to get in your car and leave and don’t come back 'cause if you do, it's not gonna be good for you." As it turns out, Bieber doesn't heed his warning, and Madsen keeps his promise. Check it out ...

Aww, lookit lil' Biebs! He's taking a stab at acting! Although, he's just playing himself ... Ah well, watching Madsen dole out those contrived, generic "tough guy" lines is pretty entertaining, right? And although this track's not nearly as catchy as "Boyfriend," I'll admit that one line, "Lalalalala love me," does get stuck in your head, and the Big Sean rap is pretty cool.

I guess you gotta give the kid credit for raising the bar and doing something a bit less cookie cutter. Even if "mini-movie" videos like this have basically become a rite of passage for any pop star at this point.

What's your take on the new vid?
