New Robert Pattinson ‘Cosmopolis’ Trailer Shows Off His Creepy Side (VIDEO)

robert pattinsonRobert Pattinson has hung up his fangs to play a billionaire playboy in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, the trailer of which was just released. We've seen RPattz post-Twilight in Bel Ami, and this latest drama, scheduled for limited release this August, is a film about violence, sex, and class-struggle, but it doesn't require him to bite necks. It does, however, require him to access his creepy side, and by that account, it's a success.

RPattz indeed comes across like a sinister scoundrel in the trailer, but I have my doubts whether or not that's enough to propel the film. And turns out, I'm not the only one who's a bit worried about this movie.

When it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival a few months back, it got mixed critical reviews. The Hollywood Reporter called it "lifeless" and "stillborn" while Entertainment Weekly loved the movie and praised Pattinson for capturing his character's frigidness that was described in the book. On Rotten Tomatoes, Cosmopolis reviews are 63 percent positive, or not that great.

I'm not in love with the trailer; I find it hard to believe RPattz as a successful businessman with a penchant for violence. He just seems too goofy for that. Maybe he'll draw me in during the full-length movie, but he didn't convince me in the minute and a half he had here.

Also, I have no idea what the movie's about. Sometimes that's a good thing, but in this case, I find myself wondering when Bella's going to show up, and if RPattz doesn't want to sit in traffic, why doesn't he just fly. Which is to say, I see Edward there, not some billionaire finance bastard. Uh oh.
