Celebs aren't being shy about throwing their support behind their fave presidential candidate ASAP. First, George Clooney made massive headlines for his Obama re-election campaign fundraiser. Now, Carrie Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker is getting involved. She announced a new contest for campaign donors with the grand prize being tickets for two to attend a fundraiser at Parker and hubby Matthew Broderick's home in NYC on June 14. The event is being called "A New York Night" with Obama, our FLOTUS Michelle Obama, and SJP. Plus, the winner scores tickets to a Mariah Carey concert. Uh-whaaa?!

How cool! I've always fantasized about running into the Parker-Brodericks. Maybe we'd chat over some Jack's Stir Brew coffee or commiserate over the ridiculous line at Magnolia Bakery. But this would be even more amazing! Starstruck Sex & the City fangirl-dom aside, I'm also impressed with SJP's rationale behind the fundraiser.

In the email fundraising pitch, Parker explains:

As a woman, a mother, and an entrepreneur, I need to believe our country can be a place where everyone has a fair shot at success.

She goes on to say she thinks that this election is even more important than 2008, because it will "determine whether we get to keep moving forward, or we're forced to go back to policies that ask people like my middle-class family in Ohio to carry the burden -- while people like me, who don't need tax breaks, get extra help."

Sounds like SJP falls into Camp Buffett, feeling that it's her duty as a someone who falls into the "1 percent" to pay a little extra -- or at least not get special millionaire tax breaks, while middle-class Americans struggle to pay the most basic bills. As a woman, mother, and entrepreneur, she could say, "I've got my boatloads of royalty dinero from HBO, so to hell with everyone else!" But, oh, wait, she has a soul! She realizes she has a little more to give, and others are in need could use a tax break more than she could.

Yeah, I was a total fangirl before, but now I'm even more head over heels girl crushin' on SJP. Not only is she a stunning fashionista and role model as an incredibly successful businesswoman, the woman's using her celebrity to accomplish something genuinely good. Now ... let's see if she can kick Clooney's butt by racking up more than $15 mil.!

Do you admire SJP for her political position?
