Kardashians' New $40 Million Mega Deal Means They're Here to Stay

KardashiansRemember the whole uproar after Kim Kardashian ended her wedding to Kris Humphries after just 72 days? I know, it seems so long ago, what with her and Kanye West so hot and heavy these days, but way back then, people thought the divorce and her "sham of a marriage" might finally be the straws to make the Kardashian empire tumble. Oh how wrong they were.

Today, the Kardashians are more powerful than ever, and a new $40 million contract they signed today with E! for three more seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians means they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. According to TMZ, that's the "richest deal ever in reality TV." Take that, haters.

So, who gets the biggest share? It's not Kim, like you might guess. Instead sources say that Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kris, and Bruce each get equal amounts. Kylie, Kendall, and Rob get lesser amounts, which seems pretty fair. Scott and Mason Disick and Lamar Odom reportedly aren't part of the package and have their own deals.

Any way you cut it, that's one big deal, and it doesn't even include all of the endorsements and other businesses that benefit from their shows on E! Ka-ching, ka-ching.

More from The Stir: Kim Kardashian Is Brave to Take on Her Haters

And why not? E! would be crazy to let them go anywhere now. The public's fascination with them shows no sign of wavering. For as much as we like to make fun of Kim's earrings and question if anything they present to us has even an inkling of reality in it, the fact is we still care. Love them or hate them with every ounce of your being, they're still relevant.

We can pretend to roll our eyes and be horrified by them, and I'm sure some of you will chime in with outrage and indignation that our society is doomed by three more years of this crap. Some of you will bemoan, why won't these people go away? If that's the case, then ask yourself why you clicked on this article, and you'll have your answer.

Are you glad to see that the Kardashians aren't going anywhere? Or horrified?
