Jennifer Love Hewitt Totally Wrecked Her Chance With Adam Levine (VIDEO)

jennifer love hewittPoor Jennifer Love Hewitt is totally having the kind of awk-ward moment a girl hopes to leave behind her after, say, 7th grade. But I guess that's what happens when you go on national TV and tell Ellen DeGeneres about your huge crush on a super famous dude like Adam Levine ... and he completely IGNORES you.

Yowch! That's like walking up to the cutest guy on the basketball team in the middle of the crowded cafeteria and slipping him a love note ... which he then crumples up into a ball and throws on the floor before walking away.

Apparently that wasn't the reaction Love Hewitt was hoping for:

"I was kind of hoping that he would say thanks for at least thinking that he's hot. He is hot!"

Like, I'm sorry you got dissed, Jen -- really. That sucks. Not for nothing, though? It's like you went looking to be publicly humiliated!

Plus, her timing could've been better. Levine just broke up with his girlfriend, Victoria's Secret supermodel Anne Vyalitsnya, earlier this week. Body's not even cold yet! Sheesh! I mean, think about it: If Adam Levine DID respond to Love Hewitt's announcement, it would have been really tacky (not to mention possibly hurtful to Vyalitsnya).

I'm guessing some part of Love Hewitt realizes that now, based on her comments:

"I feel like I should write him an apology letter on Twitter or something just to say I'm so sorry... I wasn't thinking that it was gonna turn into this whole thing and I feel bad."

A Twitter apology? I don't know if Love Hewitt needs to go that far -- I mean, it's not like she went on TV and said "Whoa, that Adam Levine, what a dumbass!"

As you'll see in the clip, it's pretty innocent stuff. Still, a "Love" connection was clearly too much to hope for. And even if Levine did or does think Love Hewitt is hot, he's probably pretty turned off at this point.

Do you think Adam Levine should have responded to Jennifer Love Hewitt's crush confession?
