Justin Bieber Raps in ‘Boyfriend’ Track & It’s So Cute (LISTEN)

justin bieber boyfriendJustin Bieber's new song "Boyfriend" has hit the Internets, and tweens and cougs alike have been losing their ish. The 18-year-old pop star, who became world famous for his uptempo, sugary pop songs, is showing his "darker" side with this mid-tempo, slow-moving hip hoppish tune. The Biebs sounds like he's channeling Timberlake and Timberland in "Boyfriend" and while it's not exactly original, it's not entirely terrible, either. Then again, no matter what crap Bieber produces, I'm sure his loyal fans will all think it smells like roses.

Some people are saying that the new track shows Bieber's growing up, that the mature beat and vocals reveal his more manly side, but I'm not so convinced. I mean, there's a line in the song that references Buzz Lightyear for crying out loud.

His "rap" lines are very tame. And frankly, thank goodness. I would hate to hear the Bieber "rapping" about anything other than being nice to the ladies and Toy Story characters. It's a sweet song. The spooky hip hop beat gives the song an edge, but the lyrics keep it G-rated.

Just like N'Sync kept it clean with their hit "Girlfriend" from 10 years ago (10!), all Bieber's singing about is finding a girl whom he can treat right. The beat sounds a bit like the Ying Yang Twins' "Whisper Song," but thankfully, the words are nothing like that X-rated jam.

With all the misogynistic songs out there that objectify women and degrade them into souless beings with two holes, I'm more than happy to hear that Justin wants to "swag and chill by the fire, eating fondue."

"Boyfriend" is not #1 on iTunes so clearly, I'm not the only one who approves.

Take a listen and let me know what you think:
