Jermaine Jones’ Criminal Record Shouldn’t Stop Him From Becoming a Star

Jermaine Jones 'American Idol'It's a sad day for American Idol hopeful Jermaine Jones. Seems that the 30-year-old "gentle giant" (as host Ryan Seacrest calls him) has lied about his criminal history, which involves a whole slew of charges ranging from giving false information to being a public nuisance to obstruction of justice. Now, he's slated to get fired from the show tonight for concealing his past. Ruh-roh.

Doesn't sound like the best of situations. It's a shame, because I like Jermaine. He really does have a soulful deep voice reminiscent of Luther Vandross and Barry White.

But come on. Something tells me that Jones doesn't need Idol anymore. There are LOADS of artists with criminal records! Heck, most of them are on the Billboard Charts RIGHT NOW. Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa ... the list goes on and on and on.

Jermaine's gotten all the publicity he needs. Now he just needs to clean up some loose ends, find himself an agent, and get back into the game.

If someone's got a voice, then people are going to be interested to hear it. Hell, remember the man with the Golden Voice, Ted Wiliams? One second he was homeless, the next he was famous, and after that he was in rehab. If this man can still be a star, then so can you -- Jermaine.

I suppose only time will tell. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning any of Jermaine's past violent behavior. But if he's got talent, then THAT'S what a lot of the fans care about, anyway. Learn more about the whole controversy and listen to Jones' smooth voice, here:
