Oscar Winners 2012: The 5 Best Acceptance Speeches of the Night (VIDEOS)

Hands down last night's Academy Awards were the best I've seen in years. Host Billy Crystal was on point the entire night, the presenters weren't too over-the-top corny (with the exception of Robert Downey Jr.) and hellloooooo -- Angelina Jolie's leg was absolutely everywhere. Who can complain about that?

No contest, though, my favorite part of the entire shebang year after year, aside from the opening monologue, is always the acceptance speeches. I can't even imagine what it's got to be like having to formulate sentences after taking home one of Hollywood's biggest honors.

From The Help's Octavia Spencer (right) to The Artist's Jean Dujardin -- check out our top 5 picks for best Oscar acceptance speeches from last night's big show:

More from The Stir: Christopher Plummer Saves Oscar Night From Being a Total Flop (VIDEO)

1. Octavia Spencer, Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Help:

You can tell this moment is life-changing for Octavia, and I love that. Watching that pure emotion on stage literally gave me goosebumps

2. Meryl Streep, Best Actress for her role in The Iron Lady:

Considering this is the first Oscar Streep has won in more than 20 years (her last one was for her role in Sophie's Choice) -- I thought it was adorable that she thanked her husband first.

3. Jean Dujardin, Best Actor for his role in The Artist:

Any actor that starts out his speech with "I love your country" and has that amazing French accent is so far beyond fantastic in my book.

4. Christopher Plummer, Best Supporting Actor for his role in Beginners:

How clever! As the oldest person ever to win an Oscar, I'd say Plummer handled his charismatic speech with class.

5. The cast of The Artist, winner for Best Picture:

Winning Best Picture is no small accomplishment, and it's clear that Director Michel Hazanavicius and his whole crew are beaming.

Did you watch the Academy Awards last night? Did you have a favorite speech?
