Kate Middleton Shows Her Wild Side With This Funky Footwear

kate middletonAnother day, another new Kate Middleton outfit. The Duchess of Cambridge visited a charity called The Art Room at Rose Hill Primary School this morning, and of course, she looked fashionably benevolent while doing so. Her Highness paired a patterned Orla Kiely coatdress (which, not surprisingly, is already sold out) with sheer brown stockings and brown suede ankle booties.

Yes, the future Queen of England threw "proper" style caution to the wind today and wore ankle booties with a dress. And it was just what we all needed.

It’s always lovely and nice to see Kate Duchessing it up in proper knee-length dresses, nude hose, and pumps, but every once in a while, we need to see her go a little rogue, a little unexpected. She may be a princess, but let's not forget, she also is a 30-year-old woman who happens to like herself some fashion. And there's no way in hell she doesn't occasionally get bored with wearing a similar style over and over again.

I wouldn't exactly call Kate's pre-royal style "wild," but, naturally, it was a bit different. She didn't have to adhere to rules and protocols and hemlines. She was looser with what she wore, a little more carefree. And although I love watching what a real-life princess wears event after event, every now and again, it gets a little boring.

I love the fact that Kate paired her "proper" dress with a pair of booties instead of pumps (and dare I say, it's a bit Pippa?). It's not a drastic change, but it's something. A little something. A little something that reminds us that the future Queen of England has a wild side. Well, sort of. Okay, not really, but the booties are super cute.

Do you like Kate's booties?
