Snooki & JWoww Have to Take Their ‘Jersey’ Shtick Out of Jersey

snooki and jwowwI'm so over New Jersey. And I can say it, 'cause I'm from there. Between the Housewives and Jersey Shore and Jerseylicious and Mob Wives -- which okay, isn't technically New Jersey, but New Jersey-adjacent -- it's enough. The world gets it. The tiny state, which is so often referred to as the armpit of America, is filled with a bunch of obnoxious, delusional, aggro people who have never met an article of leopard-print clothing that they didn't like.

But, it looks like I'm not the only native New Jerseyian who has had it with this garish marriage of reality television and the Garden State. The city of Hoboken has denied a request from MTV for a Jersey Shore spinoff starring JWoww and Snooki. Booya.

Dawn Zimmer, the mayor of Hoboken, sent MTV a letter, stating that the city would have "zero tolerance" for filming of the spinoff. She then proceeded to explain why: "Based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents, the city has denied a film permit for a spin-off of the Jersey Shore to be filmed in public locations ... Any attempts to film in a manner that is not permitted without a permit will be dealt with immediately and aggressively by the city of Hoboken."

Thank. God. It's about time somebody put a stop to this drunken buffoonery in the state I learned to ride a bike in. Clearly it wasn't going to be any of the executives at MTV or Bravo, because, apparently, people (including my shameful self) are still watching this garbage, despite the fact that reality shows centered around people living in New Jersey -- especially Jersey Shore -- jumped the shark a long time ago.

There aren't anymore layers to unearth, people! What you see is what you get (and what you most likely love to hate). It's high time these programs get the steppin'. Make room for a new state. New Jersey has had a hard enough time combating stereotypes -- and now thanks to the indelible mark these shows have made, we'll never be taken seriously.

Honestly, there are nice parts -- and nice people -- though.

Have you had it with all things New Jersey? Would you watch a Snooki/JWoww spinoff?
