Kanye West’s Dreams Are Even Bigger Than His Ego

kanye westKanye West is taking over our lives. In a Twitter tirade last night, Kanye announced 140 characters at a time over 80 tweets and three hours that his new company, DONDA, is launching soon. And in my opinion, everyone should be concerned. The company, which is named after his late mother, will have 22 divisions and will employ "architects, graphic designers, directors, musicians, producers, A&R reps, publicists, social media experts, app guys, managers, car designers, clothing designers, DJs, video game designers, publishers, tech guys, lawyers, bankers, nutritionists, doctors, scientists, and teachers."

Does this sound like some weird interpretation of the Dharma Initiative to anyone else? Is Kanye tweeting from an underground lair on a desert island? Is he running experiments on humans? Lest we get ahead of ourselves, Mr. West has summed up the purpose of his new company nicely:

DONDA will "simplify and aesthetically improve everything we hear, touch, taste, and feel."

Hear that? Everything. DONDA is the new Disney. Soon enough we'll have DONDAland and DONDAworld and Kanye will own some or all of the major TV networks and may or may not employ a cartoon mouse. I'm scared.

But! It could be fantastic. Even though Mr. West is one of the most obnoxious people on Earth, whatever he touches does seem to turn to gold. He's a hit maker, that's for sure, and his ambition and overall hyper activity may just make DONDA a success. On the other hand, there does seem to be a lot of irons in the fire here, though; one or twenty are bound to burn up.

Who knows -- this could all be some massive prank pulled by Kanye to try and prove his relevance or intelligence. Or maybe he's just trying to impress Kim Kardashian. Whatever his motivations, be them real or fake, I think we're all in for real treat as Kanye hits the ground running. And by "treat" I mean epic tweets and maybe an unhinged appearance or two.

Only time will tell.

What do you think of Kanye's ambitions?
