George Clooney's Choice of Career Over Kids Makes Him Even Sexier

george clooneyTo many of us, George Clooney will always be the "Sexiest Man Alive" (regardless of what People claims, pfft!). He's got the looks, the career, the smarts, the power, and the mystique ... But he perpetually drives us crazy by making us wonder why the heck he can't settle down, put a ring on a lucky lady, and be a father already for crying out loud?! Come on -- doesn't he want to pass down those insanely handsome genes?

Apparently, no, he doesn't. The 50-year-old actor recently said he doesn't ever want to be a dad, explaining, "I’ve always known fatherhood wasn’t for me. Raising kids is a huge commitment and has to be your top priority. For me, that priority is my work. That’s why I’ll never get married again."

Heartbreaking, I know! It's a bit mind-boggling, because we assume he seems like an all-around great guy. So if logic follows, wouldn't that make him an amazing father?

Ehhhh ... not necessarily. The guy's lived half a century; I think he knows who he is by now, and he must know he's devoted to his work above anything else, including kids and a wife.

We can't or shouldn't assume to know any better, just because he comes off like a sexy guy who has his act together. Same goes for assuming other gorgeous celeb guys who aren't yet daddies -- Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, etc. -- are husband/father material. The fact of the matter is that all of these sexy guys are successful for a reason: They're really into their work. Balancing that with family life has to be a challenge.

At least Clooney can acknowledge that he's a workaholic, kids wouldn't be his top priority, and it would be wrong to have them if they couldn't be. Good for him! He shouldn't be considered any less charming, handsome, appealing, interesting, or sexy because he chooses to be child-free. In fact, I think being candid about what he wants (and doesn't) and knowing what his strengths and weaknesses are makes him even hotter. Yeah, it's still sort of a bummer, but doesn't mean watching him frolicking in a playground with adorable "Clooney juniors" can't happen on screen or in daydreams!

Are George Clooney's comments about never wanting to be a dad a turn-off to you?
