Natalie Wood Mystery Is Even Deeper Than We Thought

Natalie Wood's death in 1981 was always steeped in mystery. The actress drowned off Catalina Island after falling off the yacht she and her husband, Robert Wagner, shared late one night over Thanksgiving weekend. Many never believed it was an accident and the case has just been reopened. And now one witness has come forward to say she heard the movie star's sad cries for help that night.

Marilyn Wayne claims she heard Wood cry for help for 20 minutes that night, saying, "Help me! Help me, please! I'm drowning!" She told her story to ET and what is even more disturbing is that a man did answer. He calmly said he was coming and then, apparently, did nothing.

See the interview below:

It's hard to decipher what exactly happened since we weren't there. But one thing does seem to be clear. All might not have been done that could have been done to save Wood.

Even more disturbing is the fact that Wayne claims she received a thinly veiled death threat imploring her not to speak of what she heard that night from the water.

It's creepy and disturbing, and if all of this is true, someone may have gotten away with murder -- or at least manslaughter -- all those years ago. Thirty years is an awfully long time to wait for justice, but it's better late than never.

If there is someone at fault for Wood's death, it's hard to imagine how he has spent the last 30 years of his life living without intense remorse, guilt, and regret. If he has felt none of those things, then perhaps he is even scarier than we thought.

The truth will come out, and when it does, maybe some of the rumors can stop being just rumors and finally be fact.

Do you think Wood was murdered?
