Kim Kardashian Needs to Stay in Hiding

kim kardashianKim Kardashian is still "missing" and, frankly, I couldn't be happier about it. She missed a taping of Keeping Up With the Kardashians after brother Rob's Dancing With the Stars performance and she was M.I.A. for brother-in-law Lamar Odom's birthday bash. But I'm sure there are millions of people out there who'd agree with me when I say that I'm ready to see less of Kim. As a Kardashian fan, I watch all 682 of their E! reality shows, I was happy to be swept up in the mind-numbing drama of Kim and Kris Humphries' fairytale sham, but now ... blech. I'm almost so over it that I might stop blogging about her. Not quite, though.

Because, listen. If Kim needs to get out of the spotlight for a while, let her. She's going to need some time to come up with an explanation for this mess anyway, and the more time she has to form her response, the better off we'll all be.

The last thing we need in our faces right now, on the E! interview couch, on the Ryan Seacrest radio program, on the cover of every magazine in the grocery aisle is a tearful Kim trying to whimper her way through an ill-formed sentence or two describing to us her "pain" and "anguish" over her multimillion-dollar pay-day for a fake wedding that lasted all of three months.

So if Kim and her uncomfortably androgynous PR lackey Jonathan Cheban want to sit in an igloo in northern Minnesota and work by the light of headlamps late into the night formulating the most appropriately ambiguous response to her divorce, I say let them. And let's not get in their way, either. Let's encourage them to stay in their frozen isolation for as long as they gosh darn please. We can send them care packages of warm coats and sharp knives, in case there are any disagreements angry bears around, and we can throw in a newspaper clipping or two, you know, just in case they started to believe that the world had stopped without them.

Thing is that we need a break from Kim, she needs a break from us, and then we can all forget in six months that this whole thing ever happened. By then, I'm sure some other Kardashian scandal will have bubbled to the surface anyway ... like that Khloe is actually a product of Kris Jenner's affair with Frankenberry. Anyone?

Do you think Kim should come out of "hiding"?
