'DWTS' Recap: Maksim Chmerkovskiy's Fit May Have Cost Him

Dancing With the Stars has been on for long enough that we come to expect certain things, and respect for the judges is one of the biggies. Still, we all knew that someone was going to go off on Len Goodman at some point, but when Maksim Chmerkovskiy did it Monday night, it seemed like it might be the end of his time on DWTS.

It all started after Hope Solo and Maks' Rumba set to "Seasons of Love" from Rent earned this from Goodman: "This was your worst dance of the whole season, in my opinion ... I’ve been in this business for 50 years.”

Maks, clearly perturbed, said: “Maybe it’s time to get out.” Dang! Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

Clearly, in this season, more than any other before it, there is a huge discrepancy between what the judges say and what the audience says. The fact is, we see two different things.

So, while you and I might have been moved by the costumes or the music or the choreography, we still need the judges to point out the heel lift. No matter how much Maks hates them.

Carrie Ann Inaba jumped to Len's defense with good reason. It isn't appropriate for Maks to speak to Len that way. Even worse, he continued his rant after they were in the scoring booth. Maks said this:

With all due respect, this is my show. I help make it what it is. I love every aspect of it. I love every professional that’s ever been here, and I love every celebrity that puts effort into it every week.

Now, I think Maks is hot, hot, hot. I love watching him dance and I think he is a great teacher. Still, if he can't get along with the people who are essentially his bosses, then he needs to go. The show is a mix of people, all equally important. It isn't the Maks show.

He was out of line and I hope it doesn't hurt his partner.

Do you think Maks was wrong?
