Scarlett Johansson Rejected From Coveted Role for Being Too Sexy

scarlett johanssonIf I had to guess, I'd say Scarlett Johansson hasn't had a lot of experience with rejection in her day. In fact, I bet that woman hasn't heard the word "no" since she was in utero. And even then it wasn't directed at her. So when I heard that director David Fincher said the "n" word to the voluptuous star when casting his hotly-anticipated movie The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, I was shocked.

But wait 'til you hear the reason why. Groooaannn ...

ScartJo is just too dang sexy. According to Fincher, when Johansson is on screen, "you can't wait for her to take her clothes off." (Truth.) And that's not what the lead role in Dragon Tattoo should be like. (Not sure what that says about the woman who did nab the part, Rooney Mara.) Fincher offered a somewhat confusing explanation of what he was looking for in his lead, saying:

Salander [the lead] should be like E.T. If you put E.T. dolls out before anyone had seen the movie, they would say, "What is this little squishy thing?" Well, you know what? When he hides under the table and he grabs the Reese’s Pieces, you love him! It has to be like that.

Weird analogy, but whatever, the guy directed Seven, Fight Club, and The Social Network. I trust he knows what he's doing. And I will admit, it is pretty bad ass that he cast a virtual no-name as opposed to the always-popular Johansson. Mara must be pretty spectacular.

I wonder how Scarlett's doing, though. I'm worried. I feel like we should check on her or something. Her nearly unscathed ego has got to be pretty banged up right now. I hope she can find a way to deal with this tragic ordeal. First the nude photo scandal, now this? Damn that woman's sexiness. It just keeps getting her into trouble.

Do you find Scarlett Johansson "distractingly sexy"?
