Zsa Zsa Gabor In 'Critical Condition' But Won't Give Up

zsa zsa gaborSad news. Our favorite nonagenarian, Zsa Zsa Gabor, was rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles Saturday when her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt found her unconscious and bleeding. The Hollywood icon is said to be in critical condition at the UCLA medical center and has been labeled "very unstable." Gabor is apparently leaking bodily fluid and blood out of a feeding tube in her stomach and is headed into surgery. Needless to say, everyone is very worried about Zsa Zsa. She's been in ill-health for sometime, and at 94, she is likely nearing the end.

That said, she's not giving up. The glamorous and beloved actress is a fighter!

Her long time friend and publicist told the Daily Mail that "she grabbed [her husband's] hand and squeezed it. She doesn't want to go yet. She wants to stay." Zsa Zsa is used to fighting -- she's been hospitalized numerous times in the last few years and her leg was amputated due to gangrene. But that spark in Zsa Zsa won't go out.

It's sad to see an icon deteriorate in front of our eyes, and at 94, death cannot be that far away. What I don't get is that some people are saying that she should let go, that doctors should stop trying to revitalize her, that she should be left to die peacefully and at home. I hear what they're saying, but at the same time, she's not Mitten, my beloved cat who suffered from kidney failure. She's human and if Zsa Zsa is coherent and really giving an effort to hang on, why shouldn't she continue to battle for her life?

Obviously, we're all going to die at some point, but until we get to death's door, I don't know if it's really fair to suggest that someone should just give up because they're old and ill. Zsa Zsa's been known for her spitfire personality, her wit, and her charm, so it's really no surprise that she's hanging in there. It will be a sad day when she does pass, but until then, I say fight the good fight, Zsa Zsa.

And when she eventually dies, I kind of hope that she and Elizabeth Taylor will throw fabulous "Happy Deathday!" parties for each other in heaven. I imagine there'd be champagne served in crystal glasses, cupcakes served on gold platters, and lots and lots of hot men wearing nothing but bow ties.

Are you a Zsa Zsa fan?
