Actor Chris Pratt Is a Cat Lover, Not a Cat Hater

Anna Faris and Chris PrattChris Pratt has recently been on the receiving end of death threats and harassing tweets (it's hard to say which is worse), all because he used Twitter to find a new home for his pet cat. In a perfectly innocent, honest, not to mention well-written tweet, he explained to his 54,000+ followers that he and wife Anna Faris were giving up their old, sick cat for adoption:

Anyone in the LA area want a cat? Full disclosure, she's old and prone to accidents. So sweet though. And was in Stuart Little. (literally).

That's nice, right? He was complimentary to his incontinent feline by calling attention to her sweet disposition and impressive career highlights.

But some crazy pet fanatics on Twitter apparently didn't like the idea of using social media to unload an unwanted pet. Suddenly, Pratt was overwhelmed by some extremely angry tweets back -- some saying he deserved to die!

Now, if Pratt was trying to give his sick little sister away on Twitter, then I could understand all the hate coming his way. But we're talking about a cat. And, it's not like he tossed the fur-ball into a dumpster. Rather, he did what any of us would do when we're trying to find a new home for a prized possession -- he reached out to people in his (er, very large) circle to try to find her a new home.

Plus, check out the eloquent reason he gave on his blog for giving the cat away in the first place:

Bottom line, and not that this is any of your fucking business weirdos, but my wife and I want to start a family and we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT have an animal that sh*ts all over the house.

I'm a self-described die-hard pet fanatic, and even I can understand his dilemma: He loves his pet, sure. And, yes, he made a commitment to it. But life situations change and, ultimately, a baby (a baby!) is more important.

The good news -- for the cat, at least -- is that despite all the drama, Pratt was able to find her a loving owner. Moral of the story: He did the right thing by using Twitter to find her a new home. Now, if he could just get rid of the death threats ...

Do you think Chris Pratt deserves all the hate for giving away his cat on Twitter?
