Sorry, Simon Cowell, But Gaga Is Not 'Boring'

lady gagaSimon Cowell may have a weird obsession with black V-necks, but I've gotta hand it to the 51-year-old. He's an entertainment genius. Alas, like many American Idol judging panels of the past, I've learned it's easy to disagree with him even though he has an eye for talent. Especially after hearing what he recently had to say about Lady Gaga:

"If you only ever heard Lady Gaga, she's the most boring singer in the world," said Cowell. "You've got to see her -- you need TV. Same with Beyonce. Or Katy Perry. We're all about image. You have to have that X Factor."

Sorry Simon, but Gaga is far, FAR from boring.

I'll agree with Cowell on one front: watching Lady Gaga live is completely different than listening to her on the radio. The 25-year-old modern day Madonna has an unreal stage show that brings her music to a whole intense other level. What she does on stage is a true art form, by adding in theatrics and an entire act to not only enhance her music, but bring it to life. Girl arrived to the Grammy Awards in an egg earlier this year and dressed as a man (complete with prosthetic penis) for the MTV Video Music Awards just last month, for Pete's sake. That's not your average performer.

However, Gaga's music on its own is impressive in its own right. "Telephone" featuring Beyonce has a completely different vibe from "Just Dance" and "Judas" from years past. In fact, every single track from Gaga has a different vibe and, with it, a different voice. While her latest "You and I" is a bit country, "Alejandro" has an upbeat, dance-in-my-car-and-hope-no-one's-watching sort of flair. And you know what? That's what I love about her. You really never know what to expect. Sure, sometimes it's a little offbeat, but that's why we can continually look forward to the music of Lady Gaga.

Cowell clearly has something wrong with his hearing. Maybe he's been through one too many wretched audition sessions. If you ask me, I bet he's just jealous he wasn't the one to discover her crazy talents at the beginning of her career.

Do you think listening to Lady Gaga is boring?
