You’ll Never Guess Who Dressed Prince William for His Wedding

kate middleton & prince williamTypically, when a man and a woman have plans to marry, the woman has a say in what the man will wear to their wedding. For instance, I was there, every step of the way, when my husband was picking out his J.Crew suit for our nuptials. It's not that I didn't trust his taste, it's just ... I didn't trust his taste. He would have definitely opted for a less-flattering jacket if it meant saving him 30 bucks. 'Cause he's a dude.

And although he's British royalty, Prince William is no different. You didn't think the Duke of Cambridge picked out his royal wedding attire all by his lonesome, did you? Well, he did not. But, surprisingly, Kate Middleton wasn't the person helping him out.

It was actually his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Oh, and she didn't help him choose it, she chose it. Actually, she flat-out demanded that he wear his military uniform.

During an interview with Our Queen author Robert Hardman, Prince William said, "I wanted to decide what to wear for the wedding. [But] I was given a categorical: 'No, you’ll wear this!'"

"This" of course refers to his iconic bright red military uniform. Hardman then added, "Having just appointed Prince William to the position of Colonel of the Irish Guards, his most senior military appointment -- and one of her Guards regiments to boot -- the Queen was quite clear that her grandson should be getting married in his Irish Guards uniform."

Well, turns out the Queen was right, no? Prince William looked fantastic -- very princely -- on his wedding day. It's hard to imagine him in anything but his red uniform the day he tied the knot; intentional or not, it was a great juxtaposition to Kate's white dress.

So, whatdya know? The Queen's not just a queen, she's a stylist, too. And a damn good one at that.

Did you like what Prince William wore for his wedding?
