How Eddie Cibrian & Brandi Glanville's Divorce Made Them Famous

eddie cibrian and brandi glanvilleBrandi Glanville made an explosive debut on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills last night, what with her painted-on dress, her confessional where she appeared to be wearing nothing but a bra or part of a Halloween costume, her crutches, and of course, her obligatory Eddie Cibrian jabs. It was horrifyingly fantastic. And, like most things I see on Bravo, it got me thinking,

I realized that, no doubt, there are people who feel badly for Glanville, somewhat rightfully so, because her "douchebag" husband Eddie left her for LeAnn Rimes. But, really, they shouldn't. Not only does Brandi seem perfectly fine without the "actor" (her quotes, not mine), she's parlayed her divorce into a full-fledged career. And so has he! The both of them are currently starring in primetime shows. Who gave a rat's ass about either before the whole LeAnn Rimes debacle?

Yes, I know that Eddie was a working actor before his divorce, but the man never had a starring role. He played bit parts in shortly-lived series like Samantha Who? and Ugly Betty. Right now he's sitting pretty as Nick Dalton, the Don Draper-impersonating lead in NBC's disaster of a show, The Playboy Club.

And Brandi. Two years ago, this woman could have fallen on top of me and I wouldn't have had the faintest clue as to who the hell she was. No one would have. She was the wife of a C-list actor. Look at her now! Rubbing elbows with Beverly Hills/ richest ladies, Lisa Vanderpump and Adrienne Maloof. She's come a long way, baby.

So, even though what Cibrian and Rimes did to their respective spouses (LeAnn was married to dancer Dean Sheremet) wasn't cool, in the end, it really worked out for both of them. I don't think Brandi -- or Dean -- would trade their newfound fame for anything.

What do you think of Brandi Glanville?
