Angelina Jolie Should Stop Speaking for Brad Pitt

angelina jolie brad pittIn the age-old debate of Jen vs. Angie, I never really chose a side. But right now, I'm feeling pretty vehemently Team Jen! If only because Angelina Jolie is currently speaking for not just herself, but also partner Brad Pitt when it comes to their acting careers. She told the Financial Times, "As Brad and I get older, we're going to do fewer films. I've been working for a long time. He's been working for a long time. We've had a nice run and don't want to be doing this our whole lives. There are a lot of other things to do."

Right, we know, like adopt children and be Mother Teresa Part 2, Angie. And that's all well and good, but really?? They're just going to quit acting? Puh-leeez. There are way too many reasons why these two could never do that, even if they tried. First of all, how about the fact that they're pretty much two of the most attractive people on the planet?

Or, less superficially, how about the fact that entertainment is what propelled their careers in the first place, giving them the platform for all that do-gooding they love? Angie may be "over" her acting career ... she may feel like she doesn't "need" it anymore, but I think she'd be sorely mistaken to walk away from big screen roles. Being international box office gold is what has made it possible for her to travel the world and offered her the visibility to become a government-recognized humanitarian.

Furthermore, Angie really needs to speak for herself. Yeah, I know she and Brad are totally attached at the hip sans marriage papers, and that's cool, but I'd never speak for my man when it comes to his career. And I just can't see Brad opting out of the Hollywood game 100 percent. He seems to love producing (he was a producer on big flicks The Departed and Eat Pray Love, among others) as much as he loves acting. The guy could have been a Mad Man (he majored in advertising at Mizzou), an architect, a museum curator, etc. But he chose acting, he found success in Hollywood, and I would be surprised if he didn't plan to continue doing so. Plus, it would be really disappointing if Brad never acted again! He's one of the best entertainers of our time. Four words: Legends of the Fall. That's all I have to say. (Oh, and he'd never admit it, but my boyfriend LOVES Meet Joe Black.)

As for Angie, whatever. If she stopped acting, I wouldn't be all that crushed, since I've never been super-impressed by any of her roles -- except maybe Gia. Otherwise, she's some incarnation of Lara Croft in just about 90 percent of her movies.

Of course, who are we to judge! If these two decide to fade away into their happy, humanitarian, jet-set family life and never work another day in front of a camera, more power to 'em. I'm just saying I seriously don't see that happening. Yes, I am calling Angelina Jolie's bluff.

Do you think these two would ever really "quit Hollywood"? What do you think about Angie speaking for Brad?
