Nick Lachey Cannot Justify Airing 'Secret' Wedding On TV

nick lachey & vanessa minnilloJennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are over, but Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are just getting started. Nick and Vanessa got married in a secret and private island ceremony recently in front of 35 friends and family members whom they flew down for their big day. Vanessa wore a two-piece Monique Lhuilllier dress while the guests kept within the "island chic" dress code.

Nick Lachey, who was married to Jessica Simpson from 2002 to 2006, dated Vanessa for over four years before the two were engaged in November 2010 and married last week.

I like Nick Lachey a lot. I thought he was so lovable and down to earth on his reality show Newlyweds with J Simps, but there's one thing that's really worrying me. There were cameras present at his wedding to Vanessa. As in TV cameras. As in "what the hell are they thinking putting their g.d. wedding on a g.d. reality show."

You'd think Nick would know better.

When will stars realize that Reality TV + Marriage = Divorce? I never thought I'd say this, but Jessica Simpson is starting to look like a genius for staying relatively quite about her upcoming wedding to Eric Johnson. I'm so surprised that Nick and Vanessa agreed to have their "intimate" wedding filmed for a TLC special. Here's how Nick justifies it:

It's a one-off special; a chance to kind of have a great experience and a great moment in our lives documented on TV, and also for us, to have a great wedding video at the end of it. I would never want to put ourselves through a reality show again. This is a different process: There's a beginning, an end, and then it's over, it's done.

Agree to disagree there, pal. I love Nick, but come on, dude! You're televising your wedding! You don't deserve props for deciding not to have a reality series -- that's a no brainer. You deserve a slap on the wrist and a roll of the eyes for deciding to go ahead and have a one-off reality special about your wedding.

It's like that old Chris Rock joke about dead-beat dads bragging about paying their child-support and staying out of jail. "Whatchu want, a cookie? You're not supposed to go to jail you low expectation motherf***er!"

So Nick: Whatchu want, a cookie? You're not supposed to have ANY form of reality show about your wedding.

I can't wrap my mind around why these two would go through with this knowing first hand that TV and marriages don't mix. Why even do one episode? Why? I wish they'd keep this "special" moment to themselves. I'm happy for them, it's just I don't want to be a part of their wedding -- for their sake and for mine.

Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding premieres July 30 on TLC. (Eye roolllllllllll.)

Do you think that Nick & Vanessa are making a bad choice by showing their wedding on TV?
